Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

LIS: Letra. Imagen. Sonido. Ciudad Mediatizada is an academic journal indexed in ERIH+ and welcomes original scholarly contributions addressing literature, media, communication, visual culture, sound, image, technology, urban culture, and related interdisciplinary fields. Authors should submit original manuscripts that make a clear scholarly contribution to the relevant field. Submissions may include research articles, theoretical papers, critical essays, reviews, and other forms of academic work appropriate to the journal's scope. Manuscripts should not be under simultaneous consideration by another publication. Authors should ensure that their submissions are clearly written, logically structured, and supported by relevant academic literature and appropriate evidence.

Each manuscript should have a concise and informative title and, where applicable, an abstract and a suitable selection of keywords. The manuscript should be organised according to its purpose and methodology, normally including an introduction, development of the argument or presentation of research, discussion or analysis, and conclusion. Headings and subheadings should be used consistently to improve readability. Authors should maintain consistent terminology, formatting, punctuation, and academic style throughout the manuscript.

All sources used in the preparation of a manuscript must be appropriately cited. References and in-text citations should follow a consistent scholarly referencing system and should correspond accurately with one another. Direct quotations, paraphrased ideas, translations, data, images, tables, figures, audiovisual materials, and other externally sourced content must be properly acknowledged. Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of all bibliographic references before submission.

Where relevant, manuscripts may include tables, figures, photographs, illustrations, images, sound materials, audiovisual resources, or other supplementary content. Such materials should be clearly numbered, appropriately captioned, and referred to within the main text. Authors should provide source information and explanatory notes where necessary and ensure that submitted materials are of sufficient quality for academic publication.

Authors should provide complete and accurate information regarding authorship. All individuals listed as authors should have made a meaningful contribution to the research or preparation of the manuscript and should have approved the final version. Any contribution that does not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately. Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission should be communicated to the editorial team and may require confirmation from all relevant contributors.

Manuscripts involving interviews, surveys, human participants, personal information, archival materials, or other potentially sensitive sources should comply with applicable research ethics requirements. Where appropriate, authors should obtain informed consent and relevant institutional or ethical approval. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, scholarly integrity, citations, interpretation, and final content of their manuscripts. Automated tools should not replace the author's academic responsibility or introduce unsupported claims or unverifiable references.

Before submission, authors should carefully proofread their manuscripts and ensure that all required components are included and consistently formatted. Manuscripts may first undergo an editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal's scope, academic quality, originality, and compliance with submission requirements. Suitable manuscripts may subsequently be evaluated through the journal's peer-review process. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in response to editorial or reviewer recommendations.

Revised manuscripts should be submitted within the timeframe specified by the editorial team and should clearly address the comments and recommendations received during review. Authors should carefully check the revised manuscript before resubmission to ensure that all changes have been incorporated accurately.
